Series
Jailbreak
The Jailbreak Series is an exploration of imprisonment—self-imposed and societal. In this series, I examine my own struggles with living life based societal pressures; and explore the courage and means other women have taken to wage their own personal wars that have shaped our larger world.
Travels
Inspired by my own travels and that of my husband, this series draws inspiration from across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, capturing the essence of local customs, landscapes, and traditions. Each piece is imbued with a sense of reverence, examining the beauty of these cultures while reflecting on the effects of globalization, colonial legacies, and environmental degradation. Through this collection, the artist conveys a bittersweet recognition of cultural richness and resilience amid the ongoing forces that shape and, at times, threaten these traditions.
The Messy Woman
A self-indulgent exploration of the well-intentioned woman navigating the world as best she can. This series invites viewers to consider the impact of perfectionism on women, fostering empathy and understanding.
This body of work aims to tell a compelling story of how perfectionism shapes and, at times, distorts the lives of women. Each painting encapsulates a distinct facet of this narrative, addressing the societal pressures, internal struggles, and the impact on mental well-being. The artworks strive to foster a dialogue about breaking free from these constraints and redefining notions of success and self-worth by embracing the “mess” that lives in all of us.
